Studio Wit Shares First Look at One Piece Remake
By Yung Namahage • 3 months ago

With over a 1000 anime episodes and even more chapters of the manga, plus all the games, movie spinoffs and Netflix live-action that doesn't suck, it's never been a better time to be a One Piece fan. And that's not even mentioning The One Piece, the upcoming anime by Wit Studio that's meant to retell the story's opening East Blue saga, which was initially animated in Toei's anime in 1999 and shown in the recent live-action.

Fans have been cautious about it so far, but Wit posted a video featuring some key details staff and concept art featuring the early adventures of the Straw Hat Crew for One Piece Day on August 10. Here are a few of the illustrations they've shared so far, which look very close to Eichiro Oda's art:

And here's the full video featuring all the concept art plus more details on staff and the creation of the remake:

The One Piece is set to be directed by Attack on Titan director Masashi Koizuka, with Jujutsu Kaisen episode director Hideaki Abe assisting. Attack on Titan and Spy x Family alumnus Kyoji Asano is working as character designer and chief animation director, while the action scenes will be directed by My Hero Academia animator Shuhei Fukuda. The voice staff is still unknown at the minute, but it's possible they could use the same voice staff as Toei's One Piece.

Studio Wit seem pretty passionate about One Piece as a series, and like they're putting the utmost respect on this remake. Let's hope they don't pass it on to MAPPA like they did with Attack on Titan
