Snowbreak: Containment Zone Introduces Censored Outfits
By Yung Namahage • 3 months ago

It wasn't too long ago I was here to talk about the infamously horny gacha game Snowbreak: Containment Zone from developer Seasun Games in Zhuhai, Guangdong, and how its laetst update was seemingly blocked on the Google Play Store due to not adhering to their regulations. Ironically, fans of the game have since discovered that certain artwork has been changed to conform to a different set of regulations.

Chong Chong, producer of Snowbreak (I swear I'm not being racist btw that's their actual name, at least on Twitter), issued a statement alerting players about a few changes to characters' outfits the team were forced to make, explaining the reason for server downtime. They said:

"Some of you have wondered why the global servers are being adjusted as well. Snowbreak has simultaneously launched globally since day one, and given our team size we need to maintain a single version across all regions to leverage our resources effectively.

We understand that some of you might be worried this could affect future designs of operatives and outfits. I want to assure you that this adjustment won't steer us away from the creative path we've been on. It is made for us to survive and stick to the current path. We know what you want for Snowbreak and we'll keep working hard to bring you operatives and outfits that are both high-quality and resonate with you deeply.

Fanservice has brought us this far, and no matter the challenges ahead, we're dedicated to staying true to it."

Here are some of the censored outfits in question according to the Snowbreak subreddit (of course):

The reason for the changes is speculated to be the game's waifu designs running afoul of the CCP, although Seasun haven't admitted it, not that they could.

Seasun have at least given players apologems in the form of in-game resources and a new outfit, and PC players are lucky enough to have a workaround that restores the outfits to their former glory. Mobile gamers aren't as fortunate, but Seasun have been pretty receptive so far when it comes to censorship issues, especially for a gacha developer.

What do you guys think of the Snowbreak censorship debacle? Have you played it? Let us know in the comments!
