Return of the Macross: Mecha Series Gets New Anime
By Yung Namahage • 10 months ago

Walküre, a fictional idol group from the Macross franchise that's also a real life idol group featuring the voice actors of the anime characters, recently held a farewell tour in Japan called the Macross Delta Walküre FINAL LIVE TOUR 2023 ~Last Mission~ . At the climax of the tour on Sunday, it was announced that the classic mecha/idol franchise is returning with a brand new anime series.

Walküre (German for valkyrie) formed in 2015, just before the release of Macross Δ (delta) in 2016. The Delta series was followed by a compilation movie, Macross Delta the Movie: Passionate Walküre in 2018, which had a sequel movie in 2021, Macross Delta the Movie: Absolute Live!!!!!!. That was the last we saw of Macross as far as anime goes, but that'll change soon.

Not much is known of the new anime yet, other than it'll be produced by Gundam veterans Sunrise. It's likely to be a sequel to Delta or a brand new continuity. Oh yeah, and there was a game announced a while back, but we're not sure yet if that's connected or not.

I'll keep you guys updated as new info comes out. Are you looking forward to more Macross mecha action? Let us know below!
