Resident Evil 4 Remake Gets Cute Anime Trailer

Only a few more days until the release of the highly anticipated (especially for the mods) remake of Resident Evil 4. The tone of the RE franchise is all over the place at the best of times, but 4 is the one that managed to blend the series' B-movie-inspired goofiness with in-your-face horror and memorable action sequences to top it off. While the remake seems to be following in the footsteps of the RE2 and 3 remakes by playing the story more seriously by having voice acting that isn't awful, Capcom leaned fully into silly territory with this latest trailer.

Leon and the Mysterious Village - Looking for Ashley is a kawaii short anime with an artstyle that looks like old school Ghibli. In it, we see Leon approaching the village, which is much more vibrant than it is in the actual game or indeed the remake. The infected villagers, animals and cultists, some with their Plaga exposed in all their Parasyte-inspired glory, are more cheerful than ever but are still about as friendly as they are in the game. That means things don't exactly end well for poor Leon. Ashley looks adorable at least.

Looking for Ashley is apparently episode 1 of the Leon and the Mysterious Village, and while this may be part of the joke by making it look like a "real" series, we may see more cute RE4 scenes in the near future.

Resident Evil 4, or Biohazard: RE4 as its known in Japan, is out March 24. What do think of this trailer? Leave your thoughts below!
