In the last few weeks, Atlus has revealed a highly-anticipated remake of Persona 4, a brand new JRPG by Persona devs called Metaphor: ReFantazio, a China-only (so far) mobile spin-off of Persona 5 with new Phantom Thieves, and a tactical game with the old Phantom Thieves we know and love, called Persona 5 Tactica. As Royal and Strikers proved, you can't have a spin-off without new characters, and Tactica follows suit on that front.
Tactica is set during the events of Persona 5. Before their graduation ceremony, the Phantom Thieves are chillin' in Café Leblanc. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake and the door starts to glow, and by the time things settle they realize they've been transported to a strange new world ruled with an iron fist by the despotic Marie. Marie and her Legionnaires overpower the Thieves, brainwashing all of them but Joker and Morgana. The two survivors have to team up with a mysterious freedom fighter called Erina and her Rebel Corps to fight back against Marie, save their friends and this world.
Erina (Elle in Japan) looks at home with the rest of the Thieves save for the lack of a mask. In terms of gameplay, she's a heavy hitter who can target multiple enemies at once and plant a flat to buff allies and debuff enemies.
Marie on the other hand looks hotter than any villain in the base Persona 5. If she's powerful enough to wipe out the Thieves and enslave most of them then she's gotta be a bigger threat than most they've faced before. According to Erina, part of her evil plan involves a nefarious wedding, hence the dress and bridezilla vibes.
Lastly, the Thieves encounter a prisoner of Marie's who was also isekai'd from their world, a politician anmed Toshiro Kasukabe. Kasukabe is a menber of the National Diet and is expected to become prime minister soon, but he's not a combatant and provides more of a supprot role for the Thieves.
It's not been confirmed, but my guess is Marie's plan involves marrying Kasukabe, brainwashing him too and sending him back to the real world so she can take control of Japan, and then the rest of the world. Whatever it is, I'm hyped for the Marie R34 that's inevitably coming soon, and Erina stuff would be great too.
