Nier creator Yoko Taro hasn't just been enjoying Stellar Blade lately - he's also hard at work on a new game, along with a couple industry veterans.
Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu published a conversation Square Enix executive officer and frequent Taro collaborator Yosuke Saito, talking to former Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi. Here, Saito confirmed he had started a brand new project with composer Keiichi Okabe, known for his work on Tekken soundtracks among others. Saito said:
"I’ve been talking about wanting to do something with Yoko and Okabe for some time now. I’ll have something a bit more put-together to say in the not-too-distant future, so please stay tuned. It might be Nier, it might not be Nier. That’s about all I can say for now.”
Both Saito and Okabe were involved in the creation of Yoko Taro's earlier Drakengard series, as well as Nier and Automata. While Saito said it may or may not be a new Nier, surely the fact that he addressed it means it's a possibility? For all we know, it could be another patented Yoko Taro curveball and we could get Drakengard 4 before Nier 3, or possibly something new entirely. Whatever it may be, it should be worth looking forward to knowing the talented team behind it.
What do you guys think? Could it be Nier 3, Drakengard 4 or something else? Let us know in the comments!
