Hiei & Kuwabara Round Out Netflix's Yu Yu Hakusho's Main Cast

It's crazy how fast Netflix have been revealing the cast in costume for their newly-revealed Yu Yu Hakusho adaptation compared to their other live-actions. It took years to see the Cowboy Bebop cast dressed as their characters from when they were announced to play the roles, and we haven't seen any of the Straw Hat Pirates from their upcoming One Piece series. Within a few days they've already announced who's playing four of the main characters in Yu Yu Hakusho, along with shots of them in costume. And they don't look too bad!

Joining Takumi Kitamura as Yusuke and Jun Shison as Kurama is edgelord demon-turned-friend Hiei, played by Kanata Hongo. Hongo previously played Envy in the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movies and Armin in the Attack on Titan movies.

And finally, there's the delinquent with a heart of gold Kazuma Kuwabara, played by Shuhei Uesagi.

Kuwabara's hair looks more like a TikTok-using fuccboi's than the classic Japanese delinquent pompadour he has in the anime, which could be a sign that the series will be updated to modern times. Director Sho Tsukikawa is a huge fan of the manga and is dedicated to doing justice to it, saying "More than anything, I think the appeal of Yu Yu Hakusho comes from its characters, which is why I wanted to highlight the appealing relationships and battles in Yu Yu Hakusho." I'd say that's a sign the series is in good hands, but I've been burned by Netflix enough times to know better.

What do you guys think of the casting? Do you think Netflix can pull off a live-action Yu Yu Hakusho? Sound off below!
