Cyberpunk's Lucy is Guilty Gear's First Guest Character
By Yung Namahage • 1 month ago

At this point, it's pretty much expected for a fighting game to have at least one guest character. The latest Mortal Kombat has a trio of comic book characters, Street Fighter 6 is getting Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui of Fatal Fury fame, Tekken 8 is bound to reveal one before long, and who can forget Warden and Gongsun Li in Samurai Shodown? However, in all its 26 years of existence, Guilty Gear has never featured a character crossing over from another IP. That's about to change with Guilty Gear Strive's Season Pass 4.

3 years after its release, ArcSys are still supporting Strive with a brand new 3v3 mode, new color schemes, new stages, and of course new characters. The first 2 are returning GG fighters - Dizzy and Venom, who both debuted in Guilty Gear X, plus new girl Unika from the upcoming Dual Rulers anime. The honor of Guilty Gear's first ever guest character goes to someone I doubt anyone would've predicted - Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners, as part of a three-way collab between ArcSys, Trigger and CD Projekt Red. Check the trailer below from EVO for a sneak peak:

Venom and Dizzy both have new looks, especially since Dizzy is now officially being billed as the Queen of Vialattea, and we already know of their fighting styles from previous games. But we've not seen what Unika can do just yet, and it'll be interesting to see how they adapt Lucy's netrunning into a fighting game moveset.

The season pass is available to purchase now, July 22, and Queen Dizzy is set to drop in October. She's followed by Venom in early 2025, then Unika some time after, and finally Lucy. No gameplay has been revealed for any of the new fighters just yet, but they'll surely get individual trailers before their respective release dates.

What do you guys think of the new (and returning) characters coming to Strive? Do you think Lucy is a fitting guest character? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
