Okay I’ll come clean, when I first found out about this project, I didn’t realize it was a full-fledged big production. I saw some designs of anime Joker and thought “oh that’s neat to see this iconic character in the anime style”. Only after Wit Studios dropped a trailer last Friday showcasing the cast and theme song of the upcoming project Suicide Squad Isekai did I comprehend this was in fact an entirely official project coming in 2024. After peeping out the trailer for myself, I can safely say my feelings are mixed. But of course, here it is for your to watch yourself:
On one hand, I’m kinda hyped. Wit Studio are a quite capable team and I see plenty of fun action sequences and smooth animation in the works during this trailer. On the other hand, I’m not so sure about this story. In the context of the Suicide Squad, it’s a pretty original idea for Amanda Waller to transport them into a fantasy world and have them take on more otherworldly foes like dragons and wizards. In the context of anime, this sounds like a generic premise we’ve seen five-hundred times over. Combining these two aspects will either produce a unique mix of character interactions that dish out a fresh feeling isekai experience, or a boring disaster that fails to really do anything inspired with this iconic group. Obviously my fingers are crossed for the former as I’m pretty burnt out on generic isekai in the medium. Either way this anime is sure to lead to a big increase once again in the amount of Harley Quinn porn out there, especially in this artstyle, so at least something good is pretty much guaranteed to come out of this.
Well boys, it’s time for me to stave off my own suicide with some fresh hentai perusing. I’ll certainly be checking this out and praying it’s not shit when we receive a specific release date.
