Tales of Manga Canceled Due to Artist's Controversial Tweets?

Cancel culture strikes again! Another artist has had their work taken away from them after the wOkE mArXiSt cOrPoRaTiOns supposedly dug up some dirt they posted years ago.

An artist who goes by Purin a la Mode was hired by Bandai Namco recently to make a cute 4koma (4 panel) manga based on the Tales of franchise to commemorate the Tales of Festival 2023, the 15th anniversary of an annual celebration of the series scheduled for June 10-11. However, just days before the festival, Bamco tweeted that they're suddenly ending the series and removing posts pertaining to it.

No specific reason was given, but fans were able to work out that Purin made some tweets back in 2015 where they were pretty much just talking shit about various Tales games. One tweet said,“[Tales of] Symphonia is a shitty game with Zelos being really hot, [Tales of] Rebirth is a shitty game that only has that old bag Popura, [Tales of] Abyss is a shitty game that only has the cute Natalia, in the end it doesn’t change the fact that they are all shitty games”.

When the 4koma was first revealed, Purin claimed they've been a fan of the Tales games since they were a kid. Seeing at the series is now 28 years old and the games mentioned above were released in the early-mid 2000s, it's possible Purin is a fan of more Tales games than not, and maybe they just weren't a fan of these particular ones. Purin was scheduled to make an appearance at the Tales of Festival this weekend, but will no longer be attending.

Fan opinion seems to be split between people urging Bandai Namco to rehire Purin, saying just because they disliked a few games in 16+ game series doesn't mean they should be fired, while others are glad that someone who seemingly disliked the franchise has no right to work on it. What you guys make of it? Let us know in the comments!
