Stellar Blade Devs are Scared Over Demo's Popularity

Stellar Blade's status as one of the most hyped games of 2024 was cemented when the demo was released a few short weeks ago. Despite the game being constantly compared to Nier Automata, the gameplay had a Sekiro-esque parry-based combat system, which had a good amount of depth to it even in the limited scenarios included in the demo.

Ampere Analysis reported that the Stellar Blade demo peaked at 690,000 on PS5, almost twice as much as the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo. Developers Shift Up joked on Twitter about fans maybe playing the demo a bit too much, saying:

While the majority of discourse around the game has been over its character designs being oversexualized, the gameplay itself has gotten people talking in its own way. Whatever people's reasons are for talking about Stellar Blade, it's likely to reflect well on the game's sales when it releases on April 26.
