Princess Maker 2, a game created by Gainax (yes, that Gainax) where the goal is to raise a magical little girl into a princess that was originally released 21 years ago, is getting yet another rerelease, this time called Princess Maker 2 Regeneration. Developed by Wonder Boy Collection devs Bliss Brain, Regeneration features newly drawn art by original Gainax character designer Takami Akai, who later worked on Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann while still at Gainax. While its original release date was July 11, it's been announced that PS4 and PS5 owners will have to wait a bit longer because certain scenes are being altered.

The official Bliss Brain web page for the game says:

"The PS4 and PS5 versions of Princess Maker 2 Regeneration will undergo some specification changes in order to comply with ethical standards. These changes include:

• The removal of items that increase the daughter’s bust size
• The removal of the endings “Marriage with Father” and “Marriage with Butler”

Due to these changes, the release date for the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game has been moved to August 8, 2024. Bliss Brain apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause."

Princess Maker 2 features a large number of possible endings depending on the stats you give your adopted daughter, the job she has and who she ultimately marries. It's possible to groom her into marrying the player character in a pseudo-incestuous relationship, or for her to get hitched to the player's demon butler Cube. The first ending I get why they'd remove, but the second doesn't seem too bad considering there are a couple endings that have the princess becoming a sex worker of some kind. That aside, Bliss Brain have released a number of images contrasting the original game's art with Akai's new illustrations:

Princess Maker 2 Regeneration is out July 11 for PC and Switch, and August 8 for PS4 and PS5. Are you planning on picking it up?
