Nintendo may have invoked the Streisand effect when they came after Palworld. What most people once saw as yet another generic survival & crafting title with ripoff Pokémon creatures has now become a legitimate game in its own right, and with Sony's backing it's set to blow up bigger than ever before. We already saw the introduction of official Palworld merch, and we know Pocket Pair's next big idea for their IP.
Krafton, the Korean publisher behind the wildly succesful PUBG Mobile, announced they've acquired the licence to make a Palworld mobile game, and plan to "faithfully reinterpret and implement the main fun elements of the original for the mobile environment." We don't know if that means it'll be a port of the original or more of an adaptation with added microtransactions and whatnot, but microtransactions have been an integral part of the mobile gaming world before they leaked onto other platforms.
With a recent launch on PlayStation and its upcoming arrival on mobile, Palworld is expanding at a pretty fast rate. Whether this'll be affected by Nintendo's lawuis against Pocketpair or vice-versa remains to be seen, as well as the specifics of the mobile version and even a release date. Whatever happens, a mobile port of an already popular IP is bound to increase attention and bring new players to the franchise, setting up the next big expansion for the world of Palworld.
