It wasn't too long ago when we got the anime adaptation of the 2018 manga My Dress-Up Darling, AKA Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru by Shinichi Fukuda. In case you missed it, it's about a high schooler with a hidden passion for dollmaking who partners with his sexy classmate to create cosplay outfits for her. It was popular enough that Marin Kitagawa was one of the hottest waifus of 2022, and we've been waiting a while for CloverWorks to update us on a second season, it is getting a live-action version soon.
Riko Nagase (Motoko in the live-action adaptation of Insomniacs After School) has been cast as Marin, and protagonist Wakana Gojo is played by Kota Nomura (Ko Kawakami in the live-action adaptation of My Girlfriend's Child). The series is being written by Satoko Okazaki, who worked on Tiger & Bunny, and directed by Peach Girl director Koji Shintoku. Check out the main duo in costume here:
The series will premiere on the Dramaism block on Japanese channel MBS on October 9. There's no news of an official western release yet, but it's bound to happen one way or another.
What do you guys think? Would you watch a live-action My Dress-Up Darling? Do you think they got Marin and Gojo right? Let us know in the comments!
