The Memories Off series of visual novels has been around since 1999, encompassing 9 individual mainline titles and a number of spin-offs and sequels. They've also never had an official rerelease in the west, but that's about to change for the first time very soon.
SINce Memories: Off The Starry Sky is the latest entry in the series, a spin-off that takes place a decade after the original series, was released in Japan in 2021. It follows grieving college student Junya Mizumoto, who encounters a strange girl that tells him he should have been the one to die in the motorcycle accident that killed his brother a year ago. While haunted by those words, he helps his childhood friend Chihaya transform her family home into a café and digs deeper into the mystery surrounding his brother's death.
SINce Memories includes character designs from U35, who previously worked on Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story and Fruit of Evolution. The story is written by a team whose credits include Fate/Zero, Steins;Gate and the Atelier series. Thanks to PQube, it has the honor of being the first Memories Off to get an official English translation, and is coming to PS4, PS5, Switch and PC on October 23.
It remains to be seen whether or not the rerelease will censor any of the game's sexual content on consoles since the Steam page includes a warning mentioning it, but we don't have long until we find out. Have you heard of Memories Off before? WIll you be checking this one out? Let us know below!
