"Omae wo mou... shindeiru" might be one of the most iconic catchphrases in anime history, but sadly, these days people don't even know where it comes from. Despite influencing hugely popular series such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Berserk, Hokuto no Ken, or Fist of the North Star, doesn't get nearly as much hype as it deserves. The 80s anime is an undisputed classic, but the OVAs in the 2000s and many game adaptations aren't as celebrated in the west. But now it has a chance to become more popular than ever before.
To comemmorate the 40th anniversary of the manga's debut, Warner Bros. Japan have announced the legendary post-apocalyptic shonen will be getting a brand new anime adaptation with an all-new cast. In case you're unfamiliar with the premise, imagine Mad Max starring Bruce Lee, and he could punch people in specific pressure points to make them explode and shit. That was great in the 80s, but imagine it with modern day animation.
Not much has been confirmed just yet other than the above teaser image, but it'll be cool to see how they go about introducing the franchise to a new generation of weebs. I can practically already see the "Kenshiro a goat frfr" TikTok phonk edits.
