Fatal Fury Returns After 25 Years
By WakeUpSnooze • 4 weeks ago

The world of fighting games has been a paradise in recent times thanks to huge blockbuster releases in the form of Guilty Gear Strive, Street Fighter 6, and Tekken 8. The big franchises are eating well overall with their latest installments, despite a few missteps here and there. It would appear that SNK is ready to join that lineup by revitalizing one of their oldest games, and hell it’s one of the oldest games in fighting game history overall. Rejoice old heads, as Fatal Fury returns for the first time in 25 years. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is here to rekindle that passion with a new trailer.

The visuals here are looking quite crispy. The style is unavoidable as the flashy effects add a ton of life and movement to the screen at all times. Honestly there’s so much going on when special moves are activated, I wonder if the effects will be toned down a bit as I find it a tad hard to keep track of what exactly a character is doing with so many sparks and similar distractions flying around on screen. Playing a fighter is immensely different than spectating though, so it’s possible that won’t be an issue after some playtime. That aside, the amount of color and cel-shading certainly helps the game’s visuals to stand out amongst other SNK games. Again I’ll hold off on gameplay impressions or predictions until more information and playtime is acquired, but I can already see my potential main out of the character lineup teased so far. My girl Preecha is coming through with a ton of kicks and heavy hitting animations, two of my favorite types of attacks in fighting games. Half the fun is the feeling that landing a powerful strike bestows upon the player in my eyes, so here’s hoping the sound and animation come together in the final product to offer that. Additionally… here’s hoping that the cast of this game receives a ton of lewd fanart and videos thanks to this revival. That usually happens with fighters, but I worry Fatal Fury is so niche we may not see as much crop up this time around.

Fingers crossed we defy that prediction and sexiness is bountiful. I mean come on, Preecha is ripe for some feet fetish content! Okay maybe not the best elevator pitch ever constructed. Did you play the original Fatal Fury? Are you excited to see this series return after so long? Will it generate a good amount of porn for the cast? Come on, grab your hat, and enter the city of the wolves in the comments below!
