FANZA is the Next Japanese Site to Restrict Credit Cards
By Yung Namahage • 6 months ago

Another week, another Japanese content sharing website imposes restrictions on purchasing content using major western credit cards. At this rate it's getting hard to keep track of how many sites have done something similar, but here's the story so far.

FANZA, a subsidiary of Japanese e-commerce site DMM.com that specializes in h-games and other lewd content, recently issued a post declaring they'll no longer be accepting Visa payments. The post said:

"Thank you very much for your continued patronage of our service.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the short notice, but we have suspended Visa payment at FANZA Doujin from 12:00 on Friday, June 14, 2024.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but if you are using Visa, please change to another payment method."

The post goes on to say users can buy prepaid cards to use on DMM and FANZA through Japanese bank JCB. Since FANZA already dropped support for Mastercard last year, options for western users to buy content seem very limited at the minute, especially since you need a VPN to even access FANZA outside Japan.

Have you guys used FANZA before? Do you think even more websites will limit credit card use for western users? Let us know below!
