Dragon Ball To Get MOBA Game Release

Dragon Ball fans have been eating a full course meal lately coming off the high of Dragon Ball FighterZ and awaiting Sparking Zero on the horizon. Now there's even more reason to celebrate (in theory) because Bandai Namco have announced a new style of game entering into the universe. I did not for the life of me expect to hear that DBZ will be dipping its toes into the world of MOBA games for a 4v4 top down RTS game. That's right, it's time to put down those fists for a second and strategize with your friends to form a balanced team that can take out the competition. The game has a very original title that I'm crossing my fingers is a placeholder in the form of Dragon Ball Project: Multi.

Fear is in my heart. I'm excited that Bandai is actually taking the opportunity to do something different with an anime game apart from arena fighter #9001 that is forgotten about two weeks post launch. On the other hand when I hear the playable platforms will be Google Play, Apple's App Store, and Steam, I start fearing we have a mobile game quality on our hands. Knowing Bandai they're not afraid to make some mid ass shit to squeeze out some dollars from fanboys. As you can imagine we've already confirmed the presence of cosmetics in the form of skins, intro animations, and win animations. Which hey I don't mind at all if the core game is fun. As far as that goes you can expect to see some traditional MOBA design aspects in the form of objectives, team comps, and roles. I haven't played League of Legends in years so perhaps this could be a nostalgic reintroduction to the genre... you know, without playing League of Legends. Interested parties should make note that Bandai announced a regional beta test taking place between August 20th to September 3rd. The included regions are Canada, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, United Kingdoms, and the United States.

As always with a fresh game announcement it's a mix of hype and worry for what lies ahead. Again it's nice to see some actual creativity on display from the genre choice, but I hope Bandai can deliver a MOBA experience that feels like a true attempt at bringing the DBZ cast to a new gaming audience rather than a lazy cash grab that takes aim at a new gaming audience’s wallets. Are you going to try out the regional test? Is this a fun new direction for Dragon Ball games or are you worried about the uncharted territory? Will you try and make some team comps with your homies? Form a team, join the queue, and run it down mid lane in the comments below!
