Dragon Ball Daima Gets Release Date Following Toriyama's Passing
By Yung Namahage • 4 months ago

Other than Sand Land, which I spoke about previously, one of the last things the legendary Akira Toriyama was working on before his untimely passing was a brand new series of Dragon Ball where Goku and the gang have morphed into kids again, but in a different way to GT. After his death, the future of Dragon Ball Daima looked uncertain, but Toei Animation confirmed the series is still airing this Fall as planned, which has now been narrowed down to October in the latest trailer.

Toriyama provided the character designs and story for the new series, and it's being directed by Dragon Ball Super animation director Yoshitaka Yashima and One Piece director Aya Komaki. The scripts are supervised and written by Cells at Work! writer Yuuko Kakihara, and the only member of the voice cast confirmed thus far is Masako Nozawa, who was awarded the Guiness World Records for longest video game voice acting career and voice actor who voiced the same character in a video game for the longest period in 2017, after voicing Goku for over 2 decades.

It's a shame that Toriyama couldn't live to see his final contribution to his most iconic series realized, but no doubt the scores of Dragon Ball fans around the world will continue keeping his memory alive.
