Classic VN White Album Finally Gets Worldwide Release
By Yung Namahage • 1 year ago

White Album isn't just the name of a famous Beatles album or the Stand of Ghiacco in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, it's also an old-school adult visual novel. It's had a number of adaptations over the years, but up until now it's never been officially made available in the west.

Originally released for PC in Japan in 1998, White Album tells the story of college student Toya Fujii, whose girlfriend Yuki Morikawa is scouted by an idol company. As Yuki becomes increasingly busy with her idol duties, Toya spends less time with her and their relationship slowly drifts apart. Fujii comes across a number of other women, including Yuki's rival idols, their childhood friend or a girl grieving over her dead brother, Fujii must decide the fate of his relationship with Yuki.

The original game had a sequel in 2010, and a remake for PS3 the same year, as well as a manga and anime adaptation. The PS3 remake removed the H-scenes but added 3D graphics, voice acting and extra story content, and that's the version coming to Steam on August  courtesy of Shiravune.

We don't know if the original 1998 version will be officially localized, but surely the remake is better than nothing. Or is it? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
