It's been over a year since the passing of Kentaro Miura. His influence can be seen throughout Elden Ring, yet it seemed his own magnum opus Berserk was forever destined to be an unfinished masterpiece. 

There were rumors that maybe Miura's assistants would continue the manga in some way. Publisher Hakusensha recently confirmed those rumors were coming true, and the manga will be returning to Young Animal magazine. The editorial department released a statement saying Miura's childhood friend and author of Holyland Kouji Mori will be overseeing the manga's posthumous continuation thanks to the staff at Miura's Studio Gaga. Miura shared details with Mori about the ending he planned for the Guts' lifelong struggle against demonkind about 30 years ago while writing the Eclipse arc. Rather than give away the ending in an interview or online he accepted Studio Gaga's invitation to continue the manga as Miura intended, sticking as true to his vision as possible.

Studio Gaga were previously responsible for the manga Duranki, which was overseen by Miura but allowed his assistants to exercise their own artistic abilities. They'll now be continuing Berserk without him, with six chapters left to wrap up the Fantasia arc and move onto the next, eventually giving the story a definitive ending. Going forward, the manga will be credited as "Original work by Kentaro Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervised by Kouji Mori."

It's true that Berserk without Miura will never be the same, but having the people he trusted continue his legacy in accordance to his vision is better than leaving people hanging. Read Mori's touching tribute one-shot manga to his late friend and it'll be apparent this is much more than a quick cash grab.
