Baldur's Gate 3, one of the most hyped games of 2023, finally came to Xbox last month, giving an even larger audience than ever before a chance to experience the game's many scenarios, waifus and husbandos. But some players have reported they've had their Microsoft accounts banned as a result of playing the game's lewd scenes for a weird reason.
The Xbox Series X|S has a feature where recorded clips and captures are automatically uploaded, and players have of course been recording some of the game's hornier scenes. But as a result of this, the players in question have been getting suspended or even banned for violating Xbox's policies regarding adult content.
Developers Larian have been working with Microsoft to reverse the bans, and suggested turning off explicit content within the game's settings to avoid them, which kinda feels like admitting defeat. Xbox Support tweeted about the issue, saying: "Our team evaluates appeals and can reverse suspensions if action was taken in error. If this was a first offense, for example, we will remove the suspension and let players know why it happened and how to avoid future issues," more sensibly recommending players turn off the auto-upload function so they can experience nudity without getting their accounts banned.
If you ask me, the game has already passed a number of rating boards and recieved certification based on its content, including violence and nudity. So why is it a big deal if footage from a game approved for release on Xbox systems (as well as PlayStation and PC) gets uploaded to a player's account? Surely footage from age-restricted games can also be age-restricted and this mess could be avoided.
So if you're playing BG3 on Xbox, make sure you turn off the auto-upload feature for the time being. What do you guys think of this debacle? Leave your thoughts below!
