In a move that absolutely nobody anticipated, Square Enix has announced that they'll be ending support for possibly the worst AAA game on PS5 barely half a year after its release.
If it somehow flew under your radar, Bablyon's Fall was the latest action RPG by Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance creator Platinum. And while Platinum are pretty mucn the kings of action RPGs and Babylon's Fall definitely has the kind of combat they're famous for, the rest of the game around it is just plain awful. The world is uninteresting, the characters are forgettable, the artstyle is horrendously drab and the story is... eh. And that's not even mentioning the omnipresent live-service elements like lootboxes and forced multiplayer integration. Ew.
Making Platinum create a live-service, forced multiplayer bullshit RPG is like commissioning Leonardo da Vinci to make Corporate Memphis LinkedIn infographics. We know they're capable of so much more and it isn't their fault this game was an abject failure that not even Nier Automata could save. This L goes squarely to Square Enix. Let's hope this is the wake-up call they needed to start making good games again. Assuming it's not too late for them, at this point. The Ls keep coming and they don't stop coming for Square lately. I've got only one more thing to say about Babylon's Fall:
Have you had the misfortune of playing Babylon's Fall? Do you think it deserves to be shut down? Let us know below!
