There was a time where Apex Legends was thought of as a potential Fortnite killer. While it is still going strong today, it doesn't have quite the same mainstream appeal or popularity as Fortnite. One reason for this could be the myriad of crossovers and collab that have introduced Fortnite to new players and kept it relevant over the years; something Apex has been comparitively lacking. But now Apex is getting a crossover of its own with one of the most iconic JRPGs of all time.
February sees the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the sequel to 2020's Final Fantasy 7 Remake that continues its retelling of the 1997 game's story. Square Enix haave partnered with Respawn Entertainment to bring FF7 to Apex, which doesn't just include a bunch of cosmetics themed after Cloud, Tifa, Aerith and other party members that are obtainable with Gil, but also new game mode with unique gameplay elements. In the new mode, Apex's usual loot-dropping robot ticks have been given a cactaur-themed redesign, and drop various types of Materia that each offer different hop-ups. Also, you can use a Buster Sword to block bullets and use Limit Breaks, naturally. Check out the crossover in the trailer here:
The FF7 x Apex crossover starts January 9 til 30. Will you be checking it out? Do you think Respawn should have more crossovers with Apex, or is that more of a Fortnite thing? Leave your thoughts below!
