Nier:Automata isn’t exactly a game which is a stranger to expanding beyond its original release. We’ve seen countless collaborations with other games as 2B has become an immensely recognizable character and many companies want a piece of that pie. What I never in a million years saw coming was that Cygames would want a piece of her to come to Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising as a DLC character. The way my jaw dropped when this info was released, Belial could have shoved an apple right in there. Just in case anyone still thinks I’m fibbing, here’s the official character trailer:

Additionally Luciillus, Beatrix, and Vane were announced and shown off. 2B will be joining the roster second after Lucilius sometime in late February 2024. It’s actually insane how much of a comeback this game has had. The original release, Granblue Fantasy Versus, became hated over time due to its lackluster netplay experience combined with frequent patches that made the game less and less fun to play according to the top players in the community. Eventually it reached “dead” status and when the follow-up Rising version was announced a good portion of the audience wrote it off. I’ll be honest, I did. The shit looked way too crazy and unbalanced and while a couple of the new characters looked cool, I couldn’t convince myself to spend the money. That was until I saw fucking 2B on the roster. And let me be clear, the other characters look pretty interesting too. As far as I can tell Granblue is officially “back” with many popular figures in the FGC currently playing and creating content for the game. I believe it’s time for me to hop in too.

Artists have never shied away from lewding 2B in the past so I expect this to be no exception. There’s so many new possibilities one could depict with this huge cast.
